Default Looking for Muzzle Loader load information

    Hey guys and gals,

I am looking into bear hunting this year and only have a choice of a 12ga slug gun or my muzzle loader.

Currently 12 ga slug gun shoots Remington accu tips or Hornady sst.

My muzzle loader is set for 44 cal sabot 240 grain with 100 grains of powder with 209 primer.

    1" high 100 yards.

No I have been told bear should be shot from 75 yards and in.

My question is, which tool is the best job for the job and if it is the muzzle loader, what load/grain bullet would be best?

12 ga H&R slug gun ultra slug

    TC black diamond .50 cal

Any load you have that works on deer will work on bear. I've taken several bears in Maine from 8 yds with a pistol to 175 yds with a rifle. One muzzleloader kill at 130 yds. If it kills deer it will kill bears!
