Re: Norinco / Polytech M14's bad rep, why??
556; If the chance came along to buy a Polytech, I'd jump on it. I have one and it's a good rifle.
We are living the the second great age of the M-14. Although most of the original USGI parts have mostly dried up, there are several manufactures that are producing replacement parts for the M-14. In many cases, the repro parts are made better than the originals, for various reasons. Also, one mfg has promised to make parts specifically for the Polytechs, including replacement bolts; 7.62mmfirearms.com. And quality USGI magazines are available at a good price.
Also recommend Warbird as a Polytech rebuilder.
I feel like I'm living in 1993 again! Demo's in the White House and a push over Congress. Get your M-14 while you still can!
Oh, PS, most of the stories about the Polytech are just that, stories and BS!

I had an M14S and sold it...I would buy one in a minute and have Warbird do the conversion. He is the man on the M14 forum.
The only thing I can think of why there is so much animosity towards the Chinese stuff is the fact they are Chinese, and guys payed a premium for a Springfield and are now finding out the Chinese ones are in fact decent and just bash them to bash them not really knowing any better."Disperse you Rebels! Re: Norinco / Polytech M14's bad rep, why??
years ago, there was alot of press on the chinese m14. i believe Smith Enterprises was reworking them. i know alot of guys that bought the 1911's, and they wouldn't sell them. springfield m1a aren't as good as they use to be. i know one guy who has a preban thats excellent . he bought a S/F Match model. been send back several times and its still ain't right.

you really need to go over to "The Firing Line" forum to research this, further. there's a lot of good info on it, over there, it's an M-14 specific forum
