Default Does Sportsmans Guide know what they are selling

    New Mil. - spec M1A / M14 Operating Rod.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that the M1 and M14 don't use the same op rod.

You answered your own question... yes, they do.
    M1A is a designation for the M14.
    M1 is the Garand.

(the "A" makes all the difference. )
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Okay, they changed their text and I didn't catch it. I first saw their catalog and checked on-line. However, look at the photo, that isn't an M1A.

...And they do NOT use the same op rod! The M-14 has a shorter action and gas system than the M-1 and use similer but non-interchangable op-rods.
