Refinishing after Engraving??
I'm going to be submitting paperwork to assemble an AR-15 SBR soon, and know I have to get my name and town engraved on the lower receiver. My question is whether or not I should have the receiver re-anodized or refinished in some way after the engraving?

Re: Refinishing after Engraving??
Getting it re-anodized is kinda expensive.
I'd get the engraving done - see if you like it in the raw and if you do not, i'd buy a touch up pen and fill in the "raw" with color using a touch up pen - like this one. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=4...T_TOUCH_UP_PEN
I had my engraver use the pen to fill it in when he was done - turned out nice.
Where are you getting the info engraved? I like the trigger area - no one can see it unless they are looking. I did get one done on the front of the mag well but now i prefer the trigger area.Last edited by Guns4Fun; January 31st, 2010 at 10:03 AM.

unless you just dotn like the looks of the fresh engravings, as above, fill it.
if yer worried about corrosion or something...
my 1971 Colt m16 has bare metal engraving thur the anodizing, so corrosion or issues whatsoever."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH
