But anyway since we're on the topic, IMNSHO, the P7 series pistols are the best all-around, do-it-all 9mm pistols ever made.
The PSP is the most concealable of the series and the trade-ins can be had for as low as $499.

i would say a nice 1911 or if you want to go polymer frame then the XD line from Springield, get one of the 2 tone, they have some really nice sub compacts.

There's always the new Walther PPS, and the STI LS 9 / LS 40 and the STI Escort.

If you want an accessory rail, then get a CZ P-01; the only NATO approved gun for the civilian market... the torture test they put that thing through is ridiculous! If you don't want a rail, then get a CZ 75B PCR. Both are compact guns, but not so tiny that they are hard to target shoot with.

Now if you want to go that way (even smaller), then get a subcompact CZ 2075 RAMI... they come in two flavors: metal alloy frame or polymer frame.

Well, if you weren't so dead set on a 9mm I'd say check out L. W. Seecamp. There tiny, puts a S&W J-frame to shame. Biggest caliber they offer is a 380 auto.

There kinda pricey seeing as there hand made. But if you want the ultimate concealable carry gun, id check out the seecamp.

Best value/size/reliability I have found is with my Glock 26. Fits in my pocket, yet as accurate at the range as a full size rig. Not sure why glocks had to be excluded... I love all brands of firearms, I just feel this is the best 9mm concealed carry piece.

    CDNN has/had grade A trade-ins for $674, Grade B for $599 and Grade C for $499.

Onpoint is selling Grade B's for $650, and I know of a guy who may still have Grade B's for $599 shipped if you're interested.

Another vote for the P7 series as a great gun design. I'm wearing my P7M8 right now.

As far as "ultimate" goes, I'd put the P7M8 first, or possibly tied with the Glock 19.

Your thousand dollars, though, isn't enough for a new P7M8, so perhaps, as others have suggested, you could look at the PSP or used P7M8's.
