    Default FN Herstal .45

I really like my 2 9mms but I do miss my Colt .45 and all of you .45 guys got me wanting a .45 again. I like Ruger firearms they are tough and economical but FN Herstal makes what looks like a very nice .45 DA/SA. I dont know a thing about FN Herstal please give me some info about FN. Good? Reliable? Quality? Thanks das

They are nice, but I would look at the Hk45 or HK45c.. Great pistol that you can make fit your hands. I shot the FN with the RDS and it was cool, but I prefer the Hk for a polymer .45...

Personally I still prefer my .45's in steel.

At the factory in Columbia SC where the FNH pistols are made the M16, M249 and M240 are made for the Armed Forces (as well as others). FN knows what they are doing when it comes to making weapons, and their quality is superb.

If you like it, buy it. The FNP 45 is a great gun and on par in quality with the HK yet at a price point lower. I personally see no justification for a 900 USD polymer framed pistol. Many manufacturers went to polymer frames because they are cheap and easy to produce, it has nothing to do with "durability."

If you want a quality, reliable DA/SA .45acp at a great price point, consider the Stoeger Cougar 8045.

    But I'm biased...

I do not have an FNP 45, but I do have one in 9mm, very nice gun, happy that I bought it. It is my token 9mm full size, as I usualy go for 45's myself.
Please be aware that mags are $$, and holsters are a bit hard to find, you have to compare it to holsters listed for other models and try it.

FN still has the "shooter's pack" which comes with 3 mags, a bladetech holster, and a dual mag carrier.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

I visited one of the local shops and they actually had an FN .45 in stock. It was a pretty nice piece. It was in the high $600s. It felt really nice...but holding it reminded me more of a Glock than any other brand.

I'm not sure I'd pay that much when I could have a Glock...if I was looking for a plastic pistol.

I have the FNP-9 and love the gun. The trigger is what most people comment on when they shoot it. It is exceptionally nice for a polymer DA/SA once the pistol is in SA mode.
