Default PSP stop. Non-issue after spotting my LTCF

Yep, a non-issue even after handing him my Maryland DL.

I moved from Pittsburgh to Maryland last year. Over the holidays, I was headed to Western NY from MD. I just hit the 322 bypass west of Port Matilda, and was exceding the posted limit when I passed the trooper.

I was pulling over before he was able to put his coffee down

He approched and asked for my info. I was pulling my new MD license out when he asked, is that a PA permit? I said yes it is. He looked at the DL, and looked at me, and said, OK, give me a minute.

He came back and said he reduced the citation from 70 to 58 in a 55. Gave me my stuff back and said have a safe Merry Christmas.

What a let down. No confrontation, no query about weapons in the vehicle, because I am sure we both know my LTCF is no good since I moved to MD.

He was very pleasent, as any PSP trooper I have ever met is. I think he felt sorry for me as I had my wife, and 3 daughters in the back seat whining. He caught a whiff of the estogen and didn't want any part of that.

    That's my non-event report.

    Cheers!

How were you legal to transport to NY from MD? Do you have a house up there? Going to a competition?

He wrote you for 3 miles over the limit??? Worked out well for you, but kinda strange.
They usually give you a few miles leeway over 55, don't they?

I was doing 70. He reduced to 3 over. Surprised me too!

I didn't actually say I was carrying. Not legal for me to carry in MD. He didn't ask, I didn 't tell.

How do you get a PA LTCF? I thought non-residents could only get one if they had a permit from their state of residence.

Sorry... If I was a decent story teller, I would have mentioned that I moved from Pittsburgh last year. I had been carrying my P239 concealed for the last 11 years. I feel very naked now.
