Yet another AR question.
I had asked about rails last week and many of you said YHM was quality and affordable. I do like the YHM Forearms but how hard is it t install a free float system can someone that is not even close to a gunsmith install or should it be taken to a pro?

Re: Yet another AR question.
If it's a true free float system (that attaches to the barrel nut threads) you need some specialized equipment; a barrel nut wrench, a torque wrench, upper receiver vise block, vise, etc. There are videos out there that show how it's done. hunt down some of those and see if it's something you want to try.

Re: Yet another AR question.
Check Brownells for their video. Its not that hard if you have the right tools. PS...get LaRue or DD...YHM is OK, but middle of the road.

Don't let those videos fool you.
Has anyone ever seen FSB pins come out that easily?

Re: Yet another AR question.
Don't know much about AR's YET but i do know i decided not to go with a free float on my AR carbine. Please see pic below also see the following link this is the one i purchased. It replaced my existing handguard and required no tools.

Re: Yet another AR question.
Get a DD Omega rail it free floats and can be installed without specialized tools, it's as simple as replacing handguards. And the quality is top notch.
Here's a pic of mine on my rifle.

Re: Yet another AR question.
Its not a free float. I decided against it i was told for the best bang for my buck to get that one and its nice except it doesn't have any heat shields but its strong and doesn't move at all.
not a lefty just haven't finished setting it up yet. I'm deciding if i should add a tacticool laser on the other sideLast edited by chaotic; January 29th, 2010 at 09:49 PM.
