    Default Transfer ?

    Anyone know how it works if i sell a pistol to a resident of nj? i know they need the cards to be able to buy a gun, does the transfer have to be done in nj or can it be done thru a shop in Pa

    Handguns must be transferred via an FFL in the recipient's state.

    Fed law generally requires all interstate transfers (minus certain exceptions) to go through a FFL in the recipients state.

    Also, prior to shipping it anywhere in NJ make sure the buyer has his FOID and the permission to buy. Otherwise, if you ship it to the NJ FFL and the guy doesn't have what's needed, he won't be able to get it, he's going to ask for his money back, the NJ FFL has to ship it to a PA FFL, you have to undergo PICS t ge your gun back, and basically it could get messy.
