    Default Dunhams M1 Carbine

ive been eyeballing a Dunhams M1 Carbine for 600$ in Cranberry PA, is there anyone here that has checked this rifle out ? or could give me some tips on what to look for to see if this baby is worth the price tag ? its been there for a while, was originaly priced a 725$, the time its been there makes me worry that it may be junk ? thanks for your help.

I haven't been in Dunham's in several months, so I can't recall if those are milsurp carbines, or if they are the new production ones from Auto-Ordnance.

I don't have any personal experience with either, but I'm sure someone will chime in with some info on both.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

Get one from the CMP for a better price. CMP goes over the firearms before selling them, so you know what you are getting.

I never handled one of Dunham's, but I always thought their carbines were way overpriced for the condition they were in. All of the ones I've seen at the Lebanon store were surplus rifles and looked like they had seen a hard life. Granted, it's been a few months since I looked at them, but the stocks always seemed pretty dirty to me. I think some of the stocks had been partially painted as well. You could always clean the stock, but if it were me I'd find a better source for one. There's often one or two floating around the classifieds. Plus there's always the CMP route, as Steelblitz pointed out. One of the members on here just picked up 2 carbines from the Ohio store recently for a pretty good price. Just wish I remembered who it was...

I love Dunham's and all but I couldn't agree more with the CMP route. I just got a "rack grade" Inland from them for under $450 delivered to my door. No import marks, original walnut stock, the works. By the time you pay the tax and fee at Dunham's you'll spend $200 more than that and chances are theirs is an import that's been beat to hell.
