who carries a round chambered all the time?
just curious...i have a glock 19 that i always have a round chambered in (in a quality holster of course) the only time i unload the chamber is when i take a range trip...so when i get home from my day out the gun just stays in the holster and goes right in my nightstand next to my bed...do you guys practice this habit or clear the chamber when you get home?

Re: who carries a round chambered all the time?
I always do. When I sleep, wake up, drive, drive home, go to the range, go to the bathroom, it's always ready. I go to classic pistol normally and you can walk in to the range CC if you have your LTCF.
Edit to add more: I think from a safety standpoint (for me), it is far safer having one in the pipe. My reason? Even though everyone always says they 'treat every firearm like it is hot,' having one that IS hot will force you to really, REALLY always act that way. I also keep the safety off. (In DA in the holster.) The only time the safety goes on is if it's not actually strapped to my side and out of arms reach.Last edited by mccula; January 27th, 2010 at 11:48 PM.

I always keep 7 in the cylinder of my carry gun, but it has one of those turny things.
Your condition will vary based on your individual circumstance. I would not recommend keeping one chambered if the pistol was within reach of crumb snatching rugrats.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Re: who carries a round chambered all the time?
An unchambered gun is only an ineffective club. All my handguns and defensive guns stay loaded all the time. If I take a defensive long gun to the range, then that is the only time I clear it to be legal for vehicle transport.
Unless you have kids or other folks within your dwelling that you need to keep you guns unloaded - clearing/unloading then reloading is an unnecessary activity.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

In the search box at the top of the page, type "chamber" and you'll get a flood of answers to your question.
