Re: Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
IN all of PA you can't sell your handgun to a private party w/o State paperwork?!!! Sorry but that sounds totally messed up and intrusive to us here.
Ex: at our monthly WAC gun shows, members do private sales all day over tables filled with goodies, not one bit of paper processed. Dealers, it's a different deal. But it's btwn WAC members only, private or dealers. Club bylaws demand it. We've avoided and cut short our distractors who didn't know what they were talking about, trying to pull that 'loop hole' BS at our shows. In fact a member can lose his credentials for life if they violate the member sales provisions. We keep the dogs at bay that way.
I thought TX was the most friendly state there was.
I'm lovin all the exchanges here. Sounds like PA has most of what I need to keep shooting.

Re: Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
that is one aspect of PA gun laws that sucks. no doubt about it.
but, here is a secret...buy them before you come here. there is no registration, so there will be no paperwork even upon moving here.
I thought TX was the most friendly state there was.
no open carry. no carry in bars or restaurants that derive over 51% of their sales from alcohol (or however that 51% BS works). etc.
TX has very liberal (in the real sense of the word, not the political sense) use-of-force laws. but when it comes to actual gun laws, texas actually kinda sucks (imho).F*S=k

Re: Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
it's because of the use-of-force laws in TX.
i think most people figure that they must have good gun laws if they have such permissive laws when it comes to shooting people.
in reality, though, their actual gun laws kinda suck.
it is a bit of a contradiction. you are not allowed to carry in a whole lot of places...not allowed to open carry...but you can shoot someone in the back for stealing a lawn ornament.F*S=k

Re: Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
VERY informative gentlemen. If I make the move I'll be bringing all the toys I'll ever need sept for that NFA piece. I expect I'll maintain some connection to WA just cause it's very friendly to us gun nuts and I have folks here.
Really, could anything be more fun on this earth then a 200+rd box fed, air cooled, fully automatic 22lr. Sure, 556 and 762 are sexy but 22lr has got be most fun there is.
Seen some videos on youtube of gents taking ground hogs somewhere in PA I believe it was. Lovely looking woods/pasture land.
Finding residence in a nice semi-rural area near Ridley Pk might be a task but we'll see.

Re: Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
i gotta disagree. to me, the most important aspect of a states gun laws is how they restrict carry.
KY requires training to get a carry license.
state law bars carrying in:
police stations;
bars;
government meetings (including local council meetings, for example)
i think KY is certainly near the top of the list, but, personally, i don't think they are ahead of PA.
2. Montana
there is a law in MT against "carrying under the influence".
by state law, no carry in places that serve alcohol for consumption on the premises, state/government offices, or financial institutions.
municipalities can regulate carry in parks and at public gatherings.
in my book, MT is not even close to PA.F*S=k
