Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
Hello Fellow gun enthu enthu.. nuts.
I have a very good opportunity to move to Ridley Park in the near future. But since my main activities revolve around guns and shooting I need to know how gun friendly are the regs and shooting climate in your state. In particular concealed carry, permitted carry in WA, gun shows, I belong to the WAC and it's private and licensed sale to members only and a great opportunity to just shop. Lately I've been working up load for a 22-250 for prairie dogs and have shot service rifle matches, IPSC and a little cowboy stuff. But of course the main activity is bouncing cans or punching paper at some secluded spot. Also is PA a class 3 state? Have to go to oregon or AZ to rocknroll. But we can have all the dreaded 'assault weapons' we can afford with no restrictions on mags.
Thanks fellow gun nuts. appreciate any your responses

Re: Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
Hi there.
PA is pretty gun friendly. It is a SHALL ISSUE state for LTCF, meaning that once you're a resident, provided you can pass a background check, you will be granted an LTCF. There is no requirement for OPEN CARRY of pistols, except (and I may be wrong about this so check it out yourself to be sure) for Open Carry in Cities of the First Class (Philly and P-Burgh).
There are a multitude of gun clubs (at least in Eastern PA) as well as state game lands ranges, gun clubs cost money, SGL ranges are free but there are rules that make taking anything other than a hunting rifle to one sort of like kissing your sister. Three round maximum limit in a magazine at a time for instance.
Class III all depends on where you live and who the CLEO is. Most rural areas will sign off on the paperwork, most urban try to make things difficult. Ranges to shoot class III are out there, I don't own any myself so I can't give much info on it, sorry.
Understand that I am neither a lawyer nor am I a LEO so please research all you have been told yourself in order to ensure you are in compliance with our laws out here and don't end up sharing a room with Bubba.

Re: Pennsylvania Gun Friendly?
Hopefully we can welcome you to PA. But unless you have to move to Ridley Park, you might want to rethink that. A lot of nicer areas nearby.

This flier probably answers most of your questions. As far as “assault weapons” go, there is no such designation in Pennsylvania. As far as NFA toys, it will depend on the Sheriff of the particular county you reside; some county Sheriffs will sign off readily and some choose not to. If you are stuck behind one of the obstinate Sheriffs, there are other options.
