The only AK's (that I know of) that don't have chrome-lined barrels are Yugoslavian AK47's and AK kits built with American made barrels.

Ah I did not know that. I knew the Yugo SKS's weren't chrome.

Also, don't expect to be wowed by precision fit and high finish. Most were crudely finished, most early Soviet examples were simply painted black. They were made to do a job, not win engineering aesthetic awards.

^^Word^^. The bottom line is just get one you like and marvel at it's kick-assedness. I bought a cheap WASR to get my feet wet and love it and want another AK.

I disagree. Importers change and change how they do things. I see no harm in the OP asking his question. For one, the search sucks. For two atleast it isn't a "AK or AR?" thread.

I picked up this Norinco a couple years back. It came with the box, 3 mags,bayo,sling, oiler. and a few hundred rounds.

It shoots where I aim. PaRifleman told me it was a pretty good deal at the time.(thanks Pa)

It was in storage in an attic for over 10 years.

I really wasn't in the market for an AK but couldn't pass it up.

Here's what that round will do to 1/2" steel plate at 25 yds. Posted for a little spice.
The 7.62X39 out of this AK is in the center of the plate just under the 300 WinMag hole.

Bulgarian, Russian, and Chinese AK's are very high quality... Polish and Hungarian are also very good. Egyptian and Yugoslavian can be quite good. Romanian AK's are considered lower on the quality scale.

I don't know what you're smoking but I have a WASR-10 and the gun works flawlessly. I've yet to have an issue with it.

Some of the guys are just referring to how many times these type of posts come up which is really a lot.

The search function isn't the greatest but quite a few people don't try to use it or ask if the subject has been referenced before.

If you have a question, ask it. if you have and opinion, post it. Someone will respond.
Some people post pics of everything. We each have our own little quirks. No big deal.

Maybe some of the better informed guys can give you ballpark pricing on the different AK's so you know what to expect to pay. Go to gunbroker and search these weapons to get an idea of what they go for.

I have a few SKS's but they are 51 Russian and about 1957 Chinese.

Some of the guys here can also give you the scoop on which ones are better than others OR go to some of the SKSboards for more info unless someone here can give you more guidance.
