CC at Wilkes-Barre Penguins games
Hi all !
Anyone know if there's a restriction against carrying at the arena for Penguin games ? Haven't been there in years, and recently moved back to the area and I'm taking a few family members to a game this week. Just curious if they have metal detectors now or anything like that.
Thanks !

Re: CC at Wilkes-Barre Penguins games
They do not have metal detectors (last time I was in anyway), however, this is taken from the Mohegan Sun policies.
Rules Of Conduct/Guest Policies
Overview of Rules & Regulations of the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza
The arena is a smoke-free facility
* No coolers, bottles, cans or containers allowed.
* No outside food or beverage.
* No horns, whistles, noisemakers, banners or laser pens.
* No video cameras or recording devices.
* No professional lens cameras. Professional lens cameras are cameras with any lens 3 inches or longer.
* No illegal substances.
* No weapons or other threatening objects.
* No re-entry upon exit.
* No bags, backpacks or boxes allowed into the facility.III%

Re: CC at Wilkes-Barre Penguins games
Thanks Nike - I never thought of looking on the arena's site, and it's a good thing, because the last I remember, it was Wachovia Arena. It's been almost 5 years since I lived in the WB area.
I wasn't planning on any gunfights on Friday night, lol, but I just hate being without Mr. 45 if I can help it, and I really don't want to leave it in the car...that's a good way for the WRONG people to get their hands on it.
Speaking of Mohegan Sun, I'm pretty certain that the casinos prohibits CC, but is that mandated by the casino, or the state of PA ? Just curious.
Anyway, thanks for the reply, much appreciated !!

Yea, I heard before the new year it was going to change names for this year, but didn't realize it had occurred until I just saw the site. So, it just changed very recently.

Re: CC at Wilkes-Barre Penguins games
The Mohegan Sun Arena is owned by Luzerne County so they cannot impose any rules concerning possesion of firearms 18 PA CSA 6120.
However, the Penguins are tenants and, as such, they would arguably have the ability to impose their own restrictions when they are occupying the building.
I couldn't find anything regarding Penguin rules. I would guess that they mistakenly rely on the arena rules but, as already stated, those rules don't exist for firearms.IANAL

Re: CC at Wilkes-Barre Penguins games
Thanks Nike for the thread on the casinos. I rarely go in, maybe once, twice a year it's dinner at the lousy buffet with some freinds, a few drinks, maybe a quick 20 in a machine and I'm out in under an hour. I always left my shooter in the car, but like I said before, wrong people, etc, etc.
TL, excellent info. I started searching all over the Penguins site, but couldn't find (and really didn't expect to) any info about carrying to a game.
I would guess worst case, if I got 'outed' they'd ask me to secure it in my car, or ask me to leave altogether. Either way, beats spending the night in a cell with Bubba.
Rep left for you both !

Re: CC at Wilkes-Barre Penguins games
No metal detectors at any of the games.
In fact, they don't even wand at the Pens games downtown. I go to many Penguin games, and the most you will get is the world's laziest pat down at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.
I wouldn't want to park my car several blocks from the arena and walk to and from it unarmed. My wife, 9 year old daughter and I went to the last Phil Flyers game together at Mellon arena, and I was not about to escort them unarmed past all of the beggers, scalpers, etc... I wouldn't take them if I was planning on leaving my gun in the car.
I also take her to some Penguin practices at Southpointe, and there are not detectors, wands or pat downs there. She loves getting an autograph or two as the players drive in to park their vehicles.

Re: CC at Wilkes-Barre Penguins games
* No weapons or other threatening objects.
Is this implying that in order to be a weapon, it must be a threatening object? In order to be threatening, an active misuse of a tool must occur. Therefore since your firearm is a defensive tool, it can't possibly be a threatening object unless you're faced with a situation of necessity. In which case all is forgiven, according to the law, generally speaking.
Pound Dirt Mohegan.
Stay armed and conceal well.
The worst that can happen if you're made is they ask you to leave.
