United Way now Funding Anti Gun Group
It happened in NJ during the 1970's and early 1980's. It has happened here in Pennsylvania. United Way is now funding CeasefirePA. Please spread the word so we can get then to stop the funding.

They always have beg-a-thons at my work.
Correct me if I'm wrong but you get to pick the organization you fund. It may just be another option. However, is the NRA an option? HmmmRead what I say as if I were speaking in a matter of fact, unassuming tone.

Re: United Way now Funding Anti Gun Group
I know lots of other pro gun groups donate their time and money for youth activities or hunter education gun safety at no cost or help train / provide police and military at no cost all for the public good of everyone.
At least the NRA does the eddie eagle gun safety programs in the schools with some of its funding which is more than the anti-gunners ever do.
What does the anti-gun groups like CeasefirePA do with its BIG BUCK money budgets besides paying its compensated people to lobby for more gun control in various forms?
Any public outreach other than trying to pass gun control in one form or another or influence public opinion to enact more gun control?
What has CeasefirePA ever done to directly protect someone from harm?
besides some touchie feels good, lets hopes this works stuff
anyone?
ANYTHING?
When the bad guys are attacking your family pass them a CeasefirePA full color brochure or a copy of the UFA and see how it works out when you tell them its illegal because of the anti-gun groups said so they have to stop now or else you report them to CeasefirePA lawyers.
Everyone should be writing the united way to complain about this one!

Not much I can see there, other than the fact that they claim they've been approved for Donor Choice. That means that anyone who donates "through" United Way specificly to CeaseFirePA (which they would have to choose), is only giving 85 to 90 cents to the organization whereas if someone donated directly, 100% would go to your chosen organization as I understand it. Less their administrative costs of course.
Because UW chapters keep 10 to 15% for expenses.
That's why UW appears to be the lazy man's charity. Any money you donate would have more impact going directly to an organization such as Chrisitan Childrens Fund or The Boy Scouts of America.
Unfortunately, many companies push for 100% compliance for payroll deductions so they can brag about it.
