    Default Best Ammo - 40 S&W

This will likely start a crap shoot, but what IMHO is the best ammo in .40 S&W........ Not necessarily a brand name, but rather weight.......

in my own personal opinion, and plenty of others don't agree with me on this, I prefer Corbon 135 grain JHP.

something like 1325 fps and 526 ft lbs of energy, I'll take it!

I have always like the 155 gr. they give me great performance and accuracy. I usually load hornady xtp 155 gr. with 5.8 grains of H. Universal. or Rainier 155 gr. LFN with 5.5 grains of h. Universal or 7.5 grains of 800x.

Federal HST or Hornaday FPD. 180 or 165gr is splitting hairs, its all good.

For practice, it is hard to beat 165 grain Federal Champion from Wal-Mart; they are lighter and cheaper than the 180s and they run well in my XDM.

    Best for WHAT?

Target shooting, Plinking, 2 COM to an attacking Thug?

I don't competitively target shoot much, I use whatever's cheap for plinking usually 180's and I use Corbon DPX for "Real" in 140 gr.....

Shot placement is probably more of a concern than a few grains of bullet weight.......
