glock 19 +1 in chamber

I don't carry +1 but I do carry with one in the chamber of my G19. You should tell you "friend" that he is the moron if he thinks the firearms is magically going to go off just because there is a round in the chamber (that is if you haven't already).

+1 refers to topping off the magazine after a round has been fed into the chamber.

You can chamber a round, and not top off the magazine...this would not be what is commonly referred to as "+1" then.

tell your friend if anyone ever comes at him in a life threatening manner to ask his attacker to wait a couple seconds so that he can chamber a round.

Just got a new ccw piece this past weekend. glock 19. also bought a quality holster for it that covers the gun's whole trigger guard. The holster was made for the glock 19 so fits it like a glove. As I am used to carrying glocks, I chamber a round, holster it, and go about my day. I get to talking with a "friend" of mine and he states that I am pretty much a moron for carrying a round in chamber with a glock and insists I am going to shoot myself because they are "unsafe" for one in chamber. I told him a person's trigger finger is really the only safety that is #1 and he laughed at me. Some let me ask you guys, how many carry +1 with glocks and dont think twice about it?

As others have pointed out, your friend is entitled to his opinion but it is based in ignorance.

right. my Sig is 12+1.....It drives me slightly nuts when people refer to carrying one in the chamber as "+1", but I'm not a terminology Nazi so I don't say anything...I'd almost rather see the term "charged".
