    Default NEED INDOOR SHOOTING GLASSES

just wondering what brands of indoor(only) shooting glasses everyone is using?
a lot of the guys at my indoor club are using beretta glasses in either yellow or blue.
any comments on which is better for indoor use only?
    cheers

I use my old Oakley M-Frames (removable/interchangeable lenses) for everything from racquet sports, to spring skiing, to shooting (both indoors and out).

You can find older models, plain colored ones at outlets or some gun shows for a decent price.

I just bought a set of cheap eyeglasses from zenni optical from china. put in your prescription on the ugly urkel sized frames, add 50% yellow tint, $15. Work great and are prescription. (I hear they may not be that great on complicated prescriptions, but basic single focus glasses work fine)

Much depends on your needs and your budget. If you need prescription glasses, that's a whole 'nother ball o' wax.

Non-prescription. Let's talk budget. Any ANSI rated safety glasses will protect your eyes. You could go to Sears ang buy a pair of budget safety glasses which will do the job. They might not be stylish or comfortable but they'll be clear and reasonably protective.

What you are really buying with the brand names is comfort and style and in some cases, thicker lenses which will give you added protection. I have pair of Wiley-X glasses that I shot with a .22 from ten feet and the bullets did not penetrate. So thicker material can give better protection but I hope that no one tries to shoot you in the eye.

I've always recommended clear lenses for indoor shooting. Yellow lenses are best used outdoors, the yellow blocks blue light which gets scattered by dust and moisture in the air causing haze. Other colors have specific purposes. There's a purplish color that is popular with shotguners because it makes the orange birds pop out. Blue? Don't know what that would do for you. Grey doesn't change colors.

If you wear too dark of a lens, your pupil expands which shortens your depth of field making it more difficult to focus on the front sight.

I used to use a pair of clear Beretta glasses, and they were fantastic for both indoor/outdoor use. Coincidentally, I also used them when I rode my motorcycle, and I ended up losing them somewhere

you cant go wrong with a set of decot hy-wyds, pricy but their pretty much the best you can buy. they have an adjustable nose peice and removable lenses. I have a set of light yellow, rose and orange blue blockers. that covers the outdoor and indoor light spectrum for me. I usually have the light yellow ones on most of the time.

It depends on the type of hearing protection you use. I use ear muff style earpro and the problem I've always had with eyepro is the temples of the glasses hurting my head and above my ear after extended use in conjunction with ear muff earpro. If you use ear muffs, I'd recommend a pair with flat temples. Currently, I use some el-cheapo glasses I got at Cabelas and they are very comfortable to wear with my earpro... and if I drop them or scratch them, I can replace 'em for five bucks.
