Default new mainspring won't fit 1911

Hi guys, I purchased a fusion mainspring housing for my 1911 pistol. the holes in the frame are just off by a hair with the mainspring housing. I know I need to get a small round file of some sort, but do I remove from the housing or the frame to get the pin to go through? any tips would be appreciated

And you call yourself an Auto Tech. Find a BFH tool and hit that sucker. If it goes, great! If it doesn't go, hit it harder. If it breaks, it needed replacin' anyhow.
And don't go hittin' it like a little girl. Hit it like you married it!

I'd do on the main spring housing, there's nothing wrong with the frame.

You sure you got the right one? A full size MS housing won't fit a compact.

If the MS housing is too low.....won't insert the whole way.....you file the top of the MS housing.

You don't mess with the holes......

I'm sure i've got the right housing. I've got the housing in the whole way and the hole in the frame is off to one side just the tiniest bit. I think I'm going to file the frame just a bit. it looks like to me that the mainspring pin has an indent that retains the pin by the housing and not souly on the tight fit of the pin in the hole. This is on a Firestorm produced by metroarms so it's not a show piece by any means. i just want to get the mainspring to fit because of the added magwell. now, where could I find a file small enough to fit in the pin hole?

Any Sears store will have needle files.

Look for files called jewelers or swiss files. Come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

General rule for gun part modification: Carve on the one that doesn't have a serial number.

    No, no, no, no, no . . . .

To paraphrase imashooter2, avoid modifying parts that can't be easily replaced.

Sure it's not a show gun but when you decide to try a different housing, maybe it won't line up perfectly either so are you going to grind away more of the frame.
