    Default Saiga conversion finished!!

Well, got it all done today....took all of about 3 hours or so.

I don't know what I was worried about....it was so easy a caveman could do it....no harder than changing oil in my car!!

The internals are simpler to work on than on my Ruger 10/22.

If I had to do it agin, I'm willing to bet I could do it in 1-1.5 hours.

    That was fun...what's next???

I still need to do mine. Do you have a list of parts you needed to gather and from which suppliers? I go to the Saiga forum from time to time. I'm laid off so if I can scrape the parts together I want to do ours. The wife has a .410, I have the 7.62.

Congrats! Now you can see how baffled I am the people pay money to have someone else do it. That kind of tinkering is my idea of a good time...

Yep! If you can figure out how to change a windshield wiper, you can do this!
It was very, very easy....and fun!!! Now I know all of the intimate details of this Saiga & how it works....I LOVE it!

I used Carolina Shooter's supplies. Here is a list (you do NOT need the Trigger Axis pin. It was only $3.00 & I wanted an "extra" in case something broke!).

    carolinashooterssupply.com Items
    1 BULLET GUIDE 7.62X39 WITH DRILL AND TAP SET @ $17.95 = $17.95
    1 GRIP AK/SAIGA GRIP NUT @ $6.95 = $6.95
    1 TRIGGER GROUP HOLE PLUGS FOR SAIGA CONVERSIONS @ $1.00 = $1.00
    1 TRIGGER GROUP-SAIGA/AK-47 <b>SINGLE HOOK G2 @ $27.95 = $27.95
    1 TRIGGER GUARD MOUNTING HARDWARE @ $1.00 = $1.00
    1 TRIGGER PARTS-AXIS PIN RETAINING PLATE FOR THE SAIGA RIFLES/AK 47 @ $5.95 = $5.951
    TRIGGER PARTS- AXIS PIN @ $3.00 = $3.00 Sub-Total: $63.80Shipping: $9.00 (Priority USPS)Sales Tax: $0.00 carolinashooterssupply.com Total: $72.80

I'm keeping the original furniture with the exception of the butt stock.
    This is a 7.62 x 39 model.....

    Wow that was quick!
Hmmm, 1 to 1.5 hours on the next one? I think you may have to show us
Nice work. Did you get to shoot it? Interesting modification you did to the handguard

Here's a picture of how the rail is "countersunk" into the handguard. Looks nice & clean. Beware, there is STRONG Russian steel imbedded in the plastic!

Now, if I could find a way to "vent" the handguard while making it look nice & proffesional, I'd be REAL happy!
