Thanks. The $120 app fee plus $40/year is a little discouraging for a beginner, but it is close to where I live.

Well I think you have to look at $120 as a one time fee for life. $40 for a very nice safe place to shoot close to home is cheep. With 25 & 50 yrd pistol, plus 75, 100, 200, & 300 benches this is the best deal close to Reading. It's not a social club with food and such like lots of other clubs, just simple shooting. When the snow goes away email me and I'll bring you as a guest so you can check it out.

I am sure it is a good value in the long run, if I stay in this area. It just adds to the "start-up" costs of having a gun. Gun, paperwork, ammo, accessories, protective eye and earwear, membership and range fees

I am going to try the Muhlenburg club first. Then, after July, when I know if I will be staying in Berks, University would be a good membership to add. It's closer to me in Mt Penn. I will take you up on your guest offer.

Meanwhile, while the weather is challenging, I am going to some group shoots at Classic Pistol near Philly.

To those inthis thread, i'd be careful who you vouch for to get into your club. Every club is atleast slighty different but I know that 2 I belong to make the new member your responsibility for the first year.

I'd check the feedback forums at the very least before signing some random feller off a website into one of my clubs.
