    Default 1911 trigger question

Hello all. I'm concerned about the up and down play in my 1911 trigger, while marginal (about 3mm) is it normal? Should I get the trigger replaced? Thanks.

Just about all 1911's will have some play (up and down) in the trigger unless it is a custom or high end gun. It can be replaced and there are triggers that you can get that are a bit oversized so it can be custom fitted to give no play at all.

If it really bugs you I would say get it replaced because it will affect your shooting because you will always be thinking about it rather than proper trigger squeeze procedures.

I remeasured and it's actually 2mm of play and it doesn't bother me when shooting, only when I'm handling it. I was thinking of getting the slide refinished so I might just get the trigger done as well. It's a S&W with 4 inch bbl.
