Default Red dot , but need more

So Im looking to put a scope on my AK. I want the easy use of a red dot but want to still be able to use it if the batteries die. So It needs to have crosshairs as well as illuminated dot or whatever. Anone have any suggestions? Not looking to spend alot but want both options.

There are a few tritium laminated dot sights out there, but they will cost you.

I am not too familiar with the AK, but i know many people with AR setups will have their steel sights line up with the red dot so if the battery fails they will still be able to use the steel sights. That may be an option to allow you to pick up a decent red dot for cheap. I got mine for about $100.00.

Co witness on an ak is harder to do because of the sight plane of the irons, but it can be done.

I'd go larue iron dot if it were me, but that doesnt satisfy your requirements. Acog knockoff might get the job done.

what price range are you looking at? because good sights do cost more, but have ridiculously long battery life (like 5 years constant on)
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

Something like this will allow you to co-witness your irons with something like an aimpoint T1:

This is the setup that d90king has on two of his AKs. I've shot one of them, it was fantastic. Very nice setup and very accurate.

I picked up a Bushnell Trophy MP and am very happy with it. It also has built in iron sights on top. I installed it with look-through mounts and can use the iron sights on the AR if desired.

If it doesnt have the manufaturer's name on it... either you are going to get a hell of a deal (because a seller is selling a used item for a great price) or its total crap.

    YMMV

Why not this one. The price is right, and if it fails, throw it away.
