wwII bolt action springfeild 308?
hello everyone,i have ben to this site very much but still new.i have put a few questions on here and had very fast results thank you.my question is now did springfeild make a 308 bolt action rifle near the end of wwII? one of my buddies says he has a couple for sale.he said not 30-06 but 308.i asked 3 times.he said near the end the war they experimented with the 308 caliber,but my research has found nothing.just wondering what hes got for sale and what would be a fair price?he said less than five thousand where made.any input would be appreciated thank you.

not possible, as the 7.52x51mm, or .308 Winchester (commercial name) did not exist until after WWII... however, development started after WWI

Technically .308 and .30-06 are the same caliber, but no, I've never heard of a Springfield .308win. How much is your friend asking?
