for the price range your in you have a few choices kel tec hi point or you can get the reliable fun to shoot S&W sigma in 9 or 40 for 340 brand new. If used even cheaper.

If driving can my gun be loaded within my reach? You can have it fully loaded duct taped to your head if you want.

    Ruger P95 - $321 Delivered

Never shot one but got good reviews on Bud's, the only bad one was a factory turd that was sent back and replaced and the guy is happy with it now. Everything else I heard about them was was 99% positive. Plus 15 capacity isnt too shabby.

S&W Sigma would fit the bill.

So would a Stoeger Cougar. I have a Cougar and carry it daily. Very accurate, too.

Sigma, Stoeger, Ruger, Keltec, Hi Point, all these are decent guns for the money. i'll vouch for the Sigma and Keltec, as i've carried them both regularly, until i got seduced by the 1911 side of the force. the Sigma was my first gun, and i carried it daily for years.

I agree that the Stoeger Cougar is a good call for this price range.

I can vouch for the SW9VE Sigma, and add a little something toward the reliable side of a Ruger.

For what it's worth, I think S&W extended the Sigma rebate until April. If you were to buy from Bud's, they are $299 plus a mail in rebate of $50 or two free mags.

Stoeger Cougar 8000 9 mm. I love mine. You will have to look around to find one but they are out there for around $350.
