    Default $35 Gun Registration?

I was told by an Agent of the Attorney General's Office that there is, in fact, a voluntary gun registry in PA... for $35 your firearm will be placed on the registry to assist LE in tracking your firearm in the event it is stolen/recovered.

My time at PAFOA had me thinking otherwise, but said agent was quite sure of this.

    So what of it, brothers?
Just because 'perfect' is impossible does not mean we should settle for 'broken'.

They should pay ME $35 to register my gun. And I still wouldn't do it.

Uhmm... pay them to keep track of my shit. No thanks.

I also have a non PA firearm registry. You pay me 48 USD for each of your firearms that you own and I will thank you for the cash. No checks, No refunds.

Your registration will go towards my ammo fund, and in the event your firearm is lost or stolen, you can call the police. You are welcome!!!

Pretty sure any state-run firearm registry is explicitly illegal in Pennsylvania. So the agent you talked to, is either mistaken, or has admitted that the state is violating the law.

Ten times the action, total hardcore.

    Title 18, Chapter 61, Subchapter A,

    § 6111.4. Registration of firearms.
Notwithstanding any section of this chapter to the contrary,
nothing in this chapter shall be construed to allow any
government or law enforcement agency or any agent thereof to
create, maintain or operate any registry of firearm ownership
within this Commonwealth. For the purposes of this section only,
the term "firearm" shall include any weapon that is designed to
or may readily be converted to expel any projectile by the
action of an explosive or the frame or receiver of any such
    weapon.

Uh… isn’t that what the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) is for? When you report your firearm stolen, they enter the make, model, and serial number into the NCIC database so that any police officer, nationwide I believe, who recovers a gun that is believed to be stolen or has been used in a crime can check the number. If a police officer in Pennsylvania ever takes your firearm from you during detainment and runs its numbers, the NCIC database, as well as the Pennsylvania Application/Record of Sale regist—ahem, database— is what it gets run through.

Oh, and NCIC is free, unless you count your previous tax contributions that fund it.
