What would the justification for being on private land without permission possibly be ?

I think this about covers it.

I remember many a day's hunt spoiled by the yelling and chain smoking of the nextdoor neighbors 'guests' 'passin through' w/o permission.

The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

In this case you should ask the property owner if you may enter their property to retrieve your game. If they say "no" you contact your local WCO and he will make sure you are allowed to get it.

Thats not true, WCO's are not to meadiate ownership of game. During hunting seasons WCO's do not have the time to retrive downed game from posted property. If the landowner will not allow you on to retrive the deer , as long as he does not take possession of it, there is nothing a WCO can do for you.
Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion, without the discomfort of thought.

And since you didn't use your tag you should just shot another one? I'd have to see a deer first before I could shoot it... lol

haha around here that involves knowing who the property owner IS and where they live to go ask them. 3/4 of the posted signs around are either decades old with no name on them or they have the name of whatever company bought the land and is waiting to sell it.

In a lot of cases the people you "think" own the property don't, or they don't live here full time, or they don't live here at all and are only waiting for it to get more valuable to sell...

Eastern PA is nothing like central or northern PA.

The correct anwser is "If you are found on my posted property I'm going to call the cops and have you escorted off".

remember archers are allowed to be armed and PA has no castle doctrine or land doctrine. It would be really hard to prove that you weren't a serious threat when you approach a hunter with a weapon out or in a physically threatening manner.

And if you prevent them from leaving your property you'll be going to jail

Then you need to to discuss this with your fellow WCO,s. I sat at a meeting at the Midland Sportsman's Club and the late Doug Carney stated that this was the case. You guys need to get your sh*t together and quit confusing us.
