they're made by Armscor, who makes Rock Island Armory 1911s, and d 1911 for other companies. you should be good to go.

Buds has them for $ 482 - a few have posted feedback and seems to be good. Post if you get one, I have been considering one myself

Buds is an online wholesaler that sells to the public, putting the screws to local dealers that have to put up with transfers of Buds crap that is usually out of stock anyway.

Oh, in case anyone didn't realize, I think Buds is an asshat of a company and so is any other online retailer that sells at $10 above wholesale to the public.

Anyway, Armscor guns are not bad at all, but there are others to consider that are US made and sell for a comparable price. Armscor is in the Phillipines

The Thompson 1911 A1 is an example of a low cost American made .45.

budsgunshop.com great prices and great service. I hear what flathead is saying and can understand the "big guy" vs "little guy" arguement - but they have incredible prices and great service. i personally buy from them and have never been sorry, but also make sure to patronize my local gunshop. if the price is anywhere close, i give my business to the little guy, but if it is too good to pass up, sorry, i go for the incredible deal. i try my best to buy american, but if unions jack prices up so high to get their cut, i have to go foreign at times - but i guess that opens a whole can of worms that isn't right in this forum

problem is, Thompson's QC is spotty, at best. before i bought my PT1911, i was looking at one; it cost a bit more, but the shop owner warned me away from it, saying i'd be better off with a Taurus or RIA. imagine, a shop owner willing to help a guy save money.
