A buddy of mine has one on his AK and it's suprisingly well made. He had me almost considering UTG for the quad rail on my AR but I ended up going with Troy.

Not sure I'd want one on a rifle I'm carrying into battle, but his seems to be holding up well and for the price it's hard to pass up. He's had it mounted on his AK for something like 3 years now and it's never come loose or needed to be adjusted.

I've got one on a WASR-10. I could not stand the smell coming out of the wood that came on the thing every time it got hot from shooting. So I put the quad rail on. I am not a purist - at least when it comes to AKs.

It has been on there for about four years now I think. I have not had to monkey with it at all to keep it on, it has stayed nice and tight. I have a Streamlight mounted on it in case I need to shoot a bad guy at night. The buttstock in the picture has since been replaced with a side folding hunk of metal - very sturdy.

There is a drawback. It sits high enough that the iron sights are pretty much useless. But since mine are canted just a little, I was going to put an optic on it anyway.

This is the reason that a lot of people don't like the UTG rails. You can't co-witness with them. Some people don't care about that, others its a game changer.
