Shooting a dog

i almost had to shoot a dog on sunday... i was trying to knock on this guys door to ask him if he had seen the gear i had stolen from me at the range on saturday, and he had a monsterous pit with a missing ear and a doberman - UNCHAINED - that barked, growled and lunged at me as i slowly made my way to his front door.
luckily, i guess i moved passivly enough that they never actually attacked. if they did, i would have dispatched them.

For those of you who lawfully carry in Ohio, ORC allows you to shoot a dog to protect yourself, but not to protect another dog. That having been said, the last case I heard of on the OFCC website involved a woman who shot a dog to protect her dog. She was not prosecuted. The general feeling appears to be, "Keep your dog under control. If it endangers people or their pets, it might get shot."

If you would come to my house uninvited, and shoot my first line of alert (my dogs), guess who is getting shot next? The fence and dogs are there for a reason.
