I like it! I don't know if I would even round out the edges, I just think it looks great. Good job!

With some chisels and some learning on how to use them, and some woodworking lessons, you will probably come out far ahead of most of us
Dont forget, at one time, the gunsmith not only had to be a metal worker, but a woodworker as well.

You can fix your mistakes in the poplar with Bondo, especially if you plan on painting it. It might be worth it anyway, to make sure you get it right on the good wood. I had planned on making a stock for a .22 rifle this winter too, but I am still working on the grips for a pistol, so I don't see it happening any time soon.
