Default Where can I shoot near Harborcreek?

My sons 9th birthday is in the end of January and I have purchased him a Marlin 795 w/stainless steel barrel for his birthday. He loves the crossman BB gun he has been shooting for the past few years, but is now ready to move up. I need somewhere close by to Harborcreek to teach him to shoot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Randy

Looks like a place on Nagle Rd, One in Ripley and Clymer, Gem City, I know Keystone (29th and Perry) is nice. I think there's a North East Sportsmans club.

Thumbs up Re: Where can I shoot near Harborcreek?

Monday nights at Gem City they indoor small bore for ages 9 to 18 at 6pm.
The cost is $14 the first night and then $4 after that. This program runs
from now until the end of April. The $14 covers start up fee 1 year membership
for the junior. The club supplies the rifle and ammo. There are NRA instructors
on the line at all times. My son has been doing this for 3 plus years. We also
compete n service rifle during summer.

Thank you for the information! I especially like the idea of getting him involved with other youths who share the same goals and can be guided by NRA instructors. Do you know if the kids at GEM City are allowed to use their own rifle during the instructional period? Again, thanks for the information..

Some do bring their rifles, but they are all bolt action. They are the easiest to make safe(safe on and empty chamber indicator installed). Also all the rifles have
peep sights which I believe once learned will make them a better shooter. Bear in mind we are shooting inside at the 50 foot firing line. Some scopes will be fuzzy at that distance.

Gem City is having their Junior Smallbore dinner 1/18/10 so there will be no shooting that night.

Is Gem City a rifle club or can you shoot, 9mm, 40 and 45 cal as well. Also, my son is more interested in Hand guns than rifles, does anyone know if they have couses for juniors for these. I don't have a problem if he learns rifles, even though we don't own any, but do own several pistols.

They have indoor and outdoor ranges. I think indoor is limited to rimfire rifles, but any pistol is OK.
