Default Man held in salon hammer attack

    Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday 8/12/07

"Man held in salon hammer attack (Associated Press)
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - A man who stormed a beauty salon and bludgeoned four grandmothers with a hammer made off with less than $90 in the daytime robbery, police said.
Thomas Leyshon III, 41, of Mountain Top, was arrested after a daylong manhunt Friday. The women, ages 56 to 76, suffered injuries that included a fractured skull, and at least one victim required surgery...."

This situation could have been easily prevented if the state Pennsylvania would only pass stricter laws regarding sale of hammers. It would also be a good idea to limit hammer purchases to one a month. Hammer Control can work if we just give it a chance!

Am I weird, crazy, or loony? In my "value set" I think that someone needed to come to the aid of these ladies to disrupt the attack and force the alleged perp to flee without any goods or cash. I have the same notion on the mass shooting at VaTech, I honor the professor but where were the studs from any of their NCAA Teams?

    I need some meds/beer.

    Best regards,

That's a good question chalmitch. There must have been someone that saw this guy swinging the hammer around. Didn't anyone come to these ladies aid? A can of hairspray in the eyes, and a broom handle to the gut of this guy would have at the very least slowed him down. Those are just two weapons I can think of that would be readily available. Can you think of more? (haircutting scissors, shaving razor, etc)

    Best!

If someone had a Bic disposable lighter on them they could have used it in combination with a can of Aqua Net Extra Super Hold (Unscented) Hairspray, and easily set the guys hair and or clothing on fire. I've actually seen it happen before and that combination is highly effective
