    Default AR/Aimpoint question

I have a flat top AR and I have an Aimpoint 7000L red dot. The Aimpoint has been riding on another rifle, but I would like to move it to the AR. I am going to need some sort of higher ring, but I am not have a lot of luck finding what it is I need. The search function is not my friend.

The Aimpoint is a long sight, 7 3/4", and 30 mm in diameter. Can anyone point me to a set of rings that will help me get this sight onto this rifle?

    Thanks.

It's a purpose built sporting RD with a length that requires two rings.

Something from badger ordnance, warne or leupold would probably work.

    Don't just buy rings.

Have someone hold the optic above the reciever while you have the gun mounted to your shoulder.

Measure the exact height you need from receiver to optic.

Go to Brownells and find the rings that have that height.

Slam the stock to your cheek and you are in business. The biggest mistake I see in people who mount optics to an AR is moutning them too high.

I have Warne rings, but some Leupolds are junk. Although on an AR15, the recoil won't beat anything up.

I'm a fan of all steel....but since the receiver is aluminum too........I don't think it matters too much.

Personally, I'd just get a set of Burris Zee rings. I broke three sets of Leos on my STW before going to Zee rings.

Thanks Jeff. I may make up a wood block to get it right.
