Good review of the Howa here by one of our own.

CZ 527 Varmint. Consider the walnut stock (or Kevlar) if you prefer, fit and finish of the rifle, accuracy out of the box, and best of all the wonderful fully adjustable single set trigger.
    Best bang for the buck.

What are you looking to do with it? The Savage is not a bad rifle by any means... Just curious. I can not comment on the other.

I just pulled open the safe, and I'm not sure of exact model, but it looks like I have a Savage and another is my brother's in .270.

    I have a Remington 700 BDL in .223 with a Leupold Vari 3X Gold Ring Scope (4.5-14X I think).

Pretty nice combination, but I am partial to 700's and this set up is a whole lot better than I am,

It's the one on the left with the cocked scope caps:

Well, I have a Howa M-1500 in .308 so I'm familiar with them, really nice and pretty inexpensive for the quality of them. I like the fact I can get it with the Hogue overmold as well and the trigger is nice in my .308 with very little work.

The reason I was looking at a Savage is because I don't really care to confuse the two and throw a .223 into my .308 and have shiite happen. The Savage comes in a digital camo stock and has a totally different look and feel.

Shooting, probably the longest I'll shoot either is the 200 yard range at Palmyra Sportsman's. Scope is probably gonna be another 30mm Sightmark 8.5-25x50, I have one on my .308 and like it, better scope than the price would lead you to believe. <$200

Ammo is gonna be a 47g varmint load @ 3600 fps. Handloads are not out of the question though

Remmies are the reason I bought a Howa in .308, the guys I shoot with all have Remmies in .308 wanted to do something different. But yeah, I considered the Remmie as well, I know I can pick them up on sale pretty cheap at Dick's in HBG. There were around $460 last time, on sale

Without a doubt the Savage !!!! Best trigger out of the box and I feel accuracy and quality compared to the Howa will be much better.

Three savage rifles in a recent Randy Cain Practical Rifle course went TU due to their AccuTriggers.

    Specific info:

".... a Practical Rifle class that has TWO of them on the line. Both of them are having the same issue(s) with the accu-trigger. There is a 3rd one present at the class that has the same issues but the owner switched to a different rifle and is therefore not affected.

Sometimes there is a click but no bang. Sometimes you can't pull the trigger at all.

When I say click but no bang....I don't mean light primer strikes. I mean no strike at all!

We have fussed around with them, adjusted spring tension, tightened things up, and they are all still failing to work about 25% of the time.

Running the bolt hard and fast seems contributory to the problem. When the bolt is closed fast it is more likely to cause the trigger to lock up.

I have watched 2 guys struggle to their wits end. Both would otherwise be doing fine were they not so frustrated with fighting a gun that doesn't want to fire".

Similar phenomenon exists with most, if not all of the aftermarket "match" triggers for the AR15 platform.

No comparison between the CZ 527 single set trigger and the Savage acc-trash trigger. In fact, the new Remington trigger can not hold a candle to the CZ trigger.
