Thinking on taking the plunge.
Went to the local gun show (Butler) and there was a dealer there with suppressors and machine guns for sale. I've been thinking on getting something like that for a while now and this just fueled the fire for me.
Shanors Supplies was the name of the company. out of Butler and they were very nice and helpful explaining a lot of it to me. No doubt hoping to sell me something.(duh) I have a few questions that I didn't think of at the time.
First, has anyone had any dealings with them? Good or Bad?
2nd. I was looking into a .22 suppressor. Do they ever wear out?
3rd. What if I die, what does my wife do with it?
Thanks for any help you can give me. Now I need patience, a little bit more money and more patience. They told me it's a 6-7 month wait on paperwork.

Re: Thinking on taking the plunge.
I've done a good bit of research on them but have zero first hand knowledge. As far as I know they do not wear out unless you have other issues. One issue is a bullet strike inside the can. I've heard several theories and the most common are improper threading of the barrel or running the weapon really hot can cause the projectile to strike the baffles. The other is unburned powder collecting in the can then touched off by muzzle flash may cause catastrophic failure in a pipe bomb sort of way.
As you will be the registered owner of the item issues could crop up upon your passing. My plan is to form a trust and name my benefactors as officers in the trust. Therefore each has the same legal access to the registered items upon my passing. As long as all Federal and Local laws are followed in the maintaining the trust it could last in perpetuity.

Possible. It's going to take a lot of use. Don't worry about it. For .22 it is often recommended that that you buy a can that can be taking apart for cleaning out lead. Or follow manufacturer's cleaning instructions.

I would also suggest to find a dealer that has what you want in stock as that will shorten your wait time. From what I have read, some manufacturers only produce one caliber at a time.
