Officers instructed my brother to commit a felony
Long story short, there was an issue at a family residence where the police needed to be called to investigate and ensure the homeowner was safe by "removing" a visitor from his residence. There also was a firearm at that residence and since there was an issue between two people, the two officers felt it was wise to tell the home owner to have it removed (cause he was obviously much SAFER unarmed), lol...
Anyways, I was there along with my brother (since we had been called by the home owner to assist), and the officers instructed my brother to take possession of the firearm and bring it back to his house. I let the officer know that this was a felony as my bro did not possess a LTCF. They "Don't care, just get it out of here, noone will know, etc.".
Needless to say I took it with me for the night, as I possess a LTCF
Just though it was interesting to mention that uniformed police officers instructed my bro to take the firearm, knowing well (Or maybe they didn't??) that he was not legally allowed to do so, and even after stating the law, they didn't care "since they didn't see nothing".
My brother doesn't know the laws surrounding firearms as I do, since he isn't an owner. I am just glad I was there that night because what if he took the firearm in his car, was pulled over, arrested, etc.... Think the cops would vouch for him? yea...Last edited by BimmerJon; January 9th, 2010 at 04:52 PM.

Re: Officers instructed my brother to commit a felony
I imagine that you've already contacted the chief of police and informed him/her of what the officer said?
If not, get on it. Now.Nine out of ten moderators approve of this post!

Re: Officers instructed my brother to commit a felony
I was waiting for these responses...lol
Truth is, this happened a couple months ago and I couldn't tell you the names of the officers. I guess they could always pull a log and see who was on duty or search the "dispatcher database" to find out what date this occurred. I cant remember exactly word for word what was said, but the message was clear. "Get it out of here and we don't care how you do it".
They either didn't know the laws, or just didn't care.
Point is, AS A COP, if you're going to tell someone to physically take and remove a firearm from a property, I think they handled it completely wrong.
At a minimum, I'll send a letter to the chief and copy in the MPOETC info.

Re: Officers instructed my brother to commit a felony
This happened in Edgemont/West Chester area.
I don't believe there are WC or Edgemont police..... so these two officers COULD HAVE maybe been State Police?

Re: Officers instructed my brother to commit a felony
It dont matter if those LEO that told your brother were Feds , those LEO are breaking the most important rule they hold high in regard-UPHOLDING THE LAW!
Those LEO that told your brother that should be fired immidiately.
