100 x Pistol Powder
Good Morning All,
I've found some 357 reloads that my Dad put together back in 1992. On the outside of the ammo box he has the following data:
Bullet 357 110gr JHP
Powder 100X 7.8gr
Primer CCI 500
Velosity 1382 FPS
I can figure out all of the data except the 100X powder. I've even done a google search with no luck. Anyone have any idea what it might be? I'm new to reloading, so go easy on me if it's something obvious.
Thanks in advance for any guidance, Ken

Re: 100 x Pistol Powder
not sure but maybe the 1 is supose to be a 7 700x? 700x is supose to be a shotgun powder but works well in pistols.

Re: 100 x Pistol Powder
If it is indeed 700x the current max charge listed by Hodgdon (that is who sells IMR powders now) is 7.0 gr with a 110 gr jacketed bullet.

Re: 100 x Pistol Powder
My guess would be with the rest of the crowd - 700x. As Redhawk said, that is a very hot load. The only loading manual I could find 700x in for 110 gr 357 mag was the Lee 2nd edition, and it had it listed as 6.6 gr max load. Be careful what gun you fire those out of, the 357 magnum produces a lot of pressure within the recommended load ranges, let alone past the max load.
