    Default Magnum Research...1911?

really? a Desert Eagle 1911? really?

    http://www.magnumresearch.com/Expand...ctCode=DE1911G

i don't know what to make of it. i was skeptical at first, but i've never heard anything bad about Magnum Research, in terms of quality. and, the price isn't bad, compared to other brand 1911s with the same features.

some people insist only Colts are real 1911s, others think that any new 1911, from any company, is tits. thoughts?

i'd like to shoot one, their other guns appear to be high quality to me. Price is right in line with a SA loaded, which is a damn fine gun.

Colt may have led the way.....but improvements have been made.

CNC machining just opened the design up to most everyone and it really should cost less these days. Make the frame holes right and a drop in trigger of 3lbs is easy.

Is an $800 1911 really better than a $600 1911? I don't think so. I'd like to see a $700 norm with a 3lb trigger, beavertail, commander hammer, lowered and flared ejection port, decent sights and an interchangeable magwell.

    That's doable.

Then....at the $1200 point every gun should lock up like a Baer....or be a double stack like a 2011.

I paid $300 for my Norinco and $350 for my Colt. I view $800 for a 1911 as highway robbery.

I'd love to see one and fondle one... I've shot a Baby Eagle and loved it, so I would expect the same kind of quality from MR.
