    Default .22 Magnum wheelgun?

Been thinking about this caliber lately. Seems like I would get some variety at the range for not too much money.

I prefer a revolver since I already have a Ruger MkIII .22 LR.

And will a .22 Magnum also fire .22 LRs? (Kinda like a .357 can fire .38s?)

Or are they apples and oranges?

Thumbs up Re: .22 Magnum wheelgun?

I like my Ruger Single Six dual cylinder 22/22 Mag in stainless. Nice accurate and cheap to shoot over the past fifteen years.

No the 22 mag cylinder will not shoot fire 22LR.

It's probably not what you're looking for but think about one of these, they're a hoot to shoot. I love mine!

If you get it with the conversion cylinder you'll be able to shoot .22LR

Carried with hammer down between chambers in a notch. They are single action, so you cock it if you want to fire.

The hammer fits into a safety notch between cartridges. I carry it just about any way I want because it's so small. The tiny things accurate out to 20 feet and more. I've had loads of fun with it and I know quite a few people that collect and shoot them frequently. They're made with top notch quality and with a 50 grain load, they pack a good punch.

I've known people that hated them, and people that couldn’t hit crap with one. Many years ago, I was one of those people until I got serious about shooting. Sure there's quite a few other revolvers to consider before a mini, but I like the fact that I can carry it anywhere, wearing anything and no one would ever notice it. It really is a lot of fun to shoot.

What he said, except I've had mine for 27 years.

Plus, it's fairly easy on the ammo budget because loading/unloading is a lot slower when you can't slap another mag in and start pulling the trigger.

I do as well, I've owned two in my lifetime, my first pistol was a Ruger Single Six. Now I have another one and love it just as much.

I presently have a S&W 648, 6" full underlug in 22 magnum and it is phenomenally accurate. No problem busting claybirds on edge on the 25 yd berm, usually 5/5.

I former times I've owned a Colt New Frontier with the 22LR and 22Mag cylinders. In 22 Mag it was fairly accurate, but in 22LR the group opened up to about 3 or 4 inches at 25 yds, more with certain kinds of ammo.

I also owned a Ruger Single Six convertable and it was a great gun.

I've fired the inexpensive Heritage convertables and for the $$$, they shot well too.

The 22Mag may be pricey ($10-$11 a box of 50 around here) but it's a solid performer in either handgun or rifle, IMO.
