I like them. But needs at least 4in bbl, closer to 6in even better.
Of currently produced, the Single Six is a top choice.
Not that I recommend that anyone do it, BUT a LR ctg will go bang in a .22Mag cylnder, and "usually" won't split the case.

I've got a Ruger stainless Single Six also. DC and Tootie bought one too, as he mentioned, and they are a blast to shoot. I rarely shoot mine in .22 mag though, since it is so expensive to feed. But, with this gun, you have the choice, and it will last forever.

That has to be Pennsy in the pic.

I have three 22 mag revolvers. A Taurus, Dan Wesson. and a colt buntline. The buntline has the interchangeable cylinders.

I suggest that you do get something with the interchangeable cylinders. The 22 mag round is not cheap.

never thought of getting a 22mag revolver but i have been toying with the idea of looking for a .17hmr revolver witha red dot or scope for squirril hunting

I have a Heritage 22 with both cylinders. It shoots very well and I'm happy with it.

I shot a groundhog with a .22 mag CCI varmint round. It didn't perform very well. The .22 mag in a revolver length barrel doesn't get up to speed enough for the bullet to expand. If they made a .22mag designed for short barrels the performance might increase.

I've always figured the 22 mag ballistics in a handgun were similar to a 22LR in a rifle. For groundhogs, that means headshots are best.

    Just an update...

After all the high praise for it, I was keeping an eye out for a used Ruger Single Six. I found one in the case at Classic Pistol. It's a 50th anniversary model (which didn't matter to me) but it's almost pristine. Must have spent most of its life in a safe.

Put some Hogue rubber grips on it first thing. Rosewood is pretty but not as comfortable as the rubber ones.

It's lots of fun and a great shooter too- it's really accurate. Changing cylinders is a snap. Goes from LR to Mag in seconds.

And my daughter loves it! Like that TV commercial- too light, too heavy, whoa, .22 mag just right!

Real eye opener with the difference in ammo. With Winchester SuperX magnums 1 1/2" group was typical. With CCI ... well I wouldn't even call them groups. They were more like shotgun patterns.

OK, next up, NAA Mini revolver. Ordered the 1 5/8" barrell, with holster grip. Comes with .22 LR and Mag cylinders. Can't wait to try it out! Maybe I'll get the camera out and start doing some reviews

I've got a couple of the older H&R convertable models (.22lr & .22 mag) and they are fun and reasonably accurate with the magnum cylinder. Also, Ruger 22 Mag Single Six, Charter Arms Gen. 1 Pathfinder 6" barrel - this one shoots great.
