Charter Arms
Greetings,
I'm looking for input on Charter Arms revolvers.( Also looked at Taurus, But Charter is made in the USA)
I'm looking for a snub nose with a non high price.
I see they have a lifetime warranty as well, Has anyone had to use their customer service? If so how were the results?
Or should I just stay away from them?
Thanks for any and all input.

Re: Charter Arms
If you know how to check if a revolver is in good shape,
Go find yourself a nice J frame Smith and Wesson snub for 300 and be wiser and happy.
The charter arms are what they are...
I just got this Smith and Wesson Model 36 (5 shot 38 special) locally for 300 OTD.
It is in near new condition

Re: Charter Arms
I have a Charco (It was named that after the original Charter Arms went out of business, but then Charco fell through and now it's Charter Arms again) Bulldog .44 Spl~~had trigger work done and the hammer bobbed...but it needs to go back to the smith for some more work because the firing pin isn't striking hard enough.
I would recommend the same as pred~~I normally carry a S&W .38 snub..while I like the bigger bullet I trust the Smith more than I do the Bulldog, which is a shame 'cause it's really a nice handy package .44--a hoot to shootUSMC 2/10 1982-85~REMEMBER FT. HOOD~

.................................................. ........................
I carry either a steel Charter Arms Off Duty or steel Smith Chief Spl .38 snubbie about 1/2 the time...both are fine. The grips on the Charter are smaller and do not 'print' as much as the bigger grip of the SW, but grips are easy to change. I like the steel handguns for the heft...a good holster makes a lite gun unnecessary IMHO. The charter is cheaper and it shoots about as good as the SW...both are hard to hit with at longer ranges..the Charter has a bit better sight pix ..for me anyways. try some out. Keep'em clean and do not pour oil in...it will gum up a revolver too!!

Re: Charter Arms
I have (and love) an original CA Stainless Undercover w/bobbed hammer and no-snag sights. Original, I say, so there have been changes in the company since 1981, when I got it. I also have a S&W 36 from ten years before that. When the CA appeared, the Smith became "the gun under the matress". Way too easy to conceal, especially how it sort of melts into the flab on my side. If I had to carry concealed a 38SPL, this would be it. Double action is reallly good, and SA is possible, if you feel it is neccessary.
(Bit honestly, my daily carry is a KelTec P-11, due to size, concealability, round-count, true DA. About same size and weight as the Charter, just six more JHP's).
Utterly reliable, never a problem, after I got the front sight silver-soldered to the barrel (they were originally EPOXIED! fer goodness sake).
Current production and customer service is prob as good as anybody's, now. (Yeah, I know, that isn't saying a lot).
Try one - unless you have hands as big as a shovel, you might just fall in love, too.
