Glock Caliber Conversion Question
I know that certain Glock .40s and .357s can be converted to other calibers, but can the 9mms be converted to larger calibers?
I kind of assumed that this is not possible because a larger caliber barrel would not fit through the end of the slide, but I have been wrong before.
Also, for anyone who happens to have experience with the conversion barrels, do you end up with a reliable gun when you use one, or do they cause issues that would prevent you from using one in a carry gun?Almost a LIB .... ertarian

Re: Glock Caliber Conversion Question
The 40/357 can be converted to 9mm, I don't know how the reliability will be but a conversion barrel and 9mm mags are needed to do it.
The 9mm cannot be converted to larger calibers, slides are differant dimensions at the breach, plus the 40/357 slides are a little heavier than the 9mm.

Re: Glock Caliber Conversion Question
you can go both ways, it just costs more to go up in caliber due to the extra parts and work you need. If you're going to buy a new slade why not just get the whole gun.

Re: Glock Caliber Conversion Question
Yeah, I didn't want to spend a lot.
I was just looking at a used Glock 19 in the Classified section, but I think I'll hold out until I can get a deal on a 23 or 27, if I buy a Glock at all.
In reality, I still think I prefer a gun with a manual safety, because I'm one of those wussies who's afraid that the trigger will accidentally get pulled when some fat chick tackles me. Fat chicks are always tackling meAlmost a LIB .... ertarian

Re: Glock Caliber Conversion Question
As mentioned, it's possible to go up in cal, but not very practical. I have a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion for my G23 with about 500 rounds thru it so far & I haven't had a problem. In fact, I think the conversion barrel is a bit more accurate than the stock .40. It's kinda' hard to tell though, because I'm a bad shot to begin with.

Re: Glock Caliber Conversion Question
You can not go up in cal without a slide. The OD of the barrels is larger.

Re: Glock Caliber Conversion Question
Damn you, Can't you see he was looking for this question ???
Well anyways, they used to tackle me all the time too. They seemed to like the skinny guys.
Back to the OP. I started using a Glock32 for about 3 or 4 years till .357 sig ammo wasn't made with aluminum cases anymore and the price started creeping up. I bought a factory .40 bbl, essentially turned it into a G23 and put a ton of rounds down range with no issues.
I have kicked around getting the parts to go 9mm with one of the G23's but haven't done so yet.
