Default Things I learned today...my new Spartan is very nice!!!

Got to the range today to shoot my new STI/Armscor Spartan.

My first trip into the 1911 realm. I've tested a few different models in the research phase, but went with the Spartan on blind faith. They get great reviews and such.

The firearm is super tight. Needs a good bit of break in, however the targets don't lie. First round from a few mags didn't go into battery, but slid home with a light rap on the mag. I chocked it up to newness, if I'm wrong I'm sure y'all will let me know.

    Other things I learned:
    Bore snakes are great
.45 holes are easier to see
after shooting the Spartan, my CZ-75 needs a trigger job

    cheers all
I'll throw up some pics when I get a chance.

Very very nice!! I am seriously considering an STI for my next purchase, I think they are awesome guns for the money. As for the "newness", I just went through the same thing as yes, it will get all better very soon. Did you purchase from a store or online? Dawson Precision?

If you have any questions consult Lycanthrope, thats what I did. He's not a gunsmith, but he DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

gunbroker...for less than dawson is charging including shipping and insurance

i'm sure i'll have questions in the future.

One thing I'll say is the mag is crap. I'll be looking for some better quality mags real soon. and a holster and mag carriers and a bunch of other stuff I'm sure.

    Nice find!

As far as mags, don't waste money searching around, get either Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick and call it a day.

My Pop has a RIA...and I considered one after shooting his. It's tricked out a bit, but one thing it doesn't have is a beavertail. My paws are fairly large and after a day at the range with that my hand is a bloody mess.

I shot the Springfield, RIA, Kimber, and Taurus. Held a Para or two. And shot the Sig 220.

I can say that I am more than pleased with my decision on the Spartan. Great value for a fine shoootin iron.
