I love watching hawks and eagles. Here's a pic I took in Rhode Island at Swan Point Cemetery with my old Pentax 35mm. I did NOT use a telephoto lens for this picture.

Very cool. I was walking to class a month or two ago and a red tail had caught a squirrel on basically the only grass patch at Temple U. Such a cool sight...lots of people gathered around to watch. Was the second time I've seen such a thing down there.

Someone caught another instance on video.

I'm surprised you've never seen one in Monroe in 20 years here. I've been here 19 and have seen them on numerous occasions. A while back there were a few that I would see all the time near my neighborhood (Middle Smithfield Township). Just north of me I've seen them countless times, both in the National Park and up in some of the state lands heading up toward Wallenpaupack, though that is Pike County. Regardless, no matter how many I've seen they're still a thing of beauty.

I went to school up in Connecticut and had a conversation with my class about eagles, and when I had mentioned having seen them flying and in nests everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Apparently there are no eagles in CT, though there were plenty of Hawks. My schools mascot was in fact the Hawks, and there were usually a few around campus.

Not true. I lived in CT for a bit. There is a power plant on a river, damned if I recall the name, that gets dozens every winter. The output from the plant melts the ice and provides a great place for them to fish. Every winter, they congregate at this spot. The plant provides an observation area, and you can go watch them there.

I see them up here in Hernryville, paradise township area along the Cranberry creek, they love to fish this creek , lots of trout in it, unfortunately about 2 years ago some moron shot one , it were all over the news. Majestic birds.
