cc while working construction?
Does anyone have any experience/advise for cc while on a jobsite? I wear a toolbelt all day and havent come up with a reasonable way to carry.

IWB with a tuckable holster, or with a smartcarry/thunderwear type holster.

Depending on what your carry piece is, I would say ankle holster. But like I said depending on what you carry that may or may not be a viable option. Best of Luck.

Re: cc while working construction?
I often wear tool belts so my typical carry is ankle. Takes some getting used to but work OK for me. I found the optional calf strap helps tremendously. The rig sits at the top of my boots.

A smith and wesson J frame in a good pocket holster will also be a great option. You will not win any quick draw competitions, yet it will be there if needed.

Re: cc while working construction?
You guys don't wear tool belts very often, do you? IWB/OWB holsters and pants pockets are pretty much impossible to access with a tool belt on.
I like to use a pocket in my strong side pouch. I use a BucketBoss Mullet Buster Xtreme (corny name but great gear), which has a lot of pockets. The only other option that's reasonably accessible is ankle carry. You could probably make a shoulder holster work, but I don't like shoulder holsters, so I've never tried.Last edited by unloved; January 4th, 2010 at 09:21 PM.

Re: cc while working construction?
I've carried a few times while at work, but usually this was because I was going somewhere after work and wouldn't be going home right away. A few times I've been working in rough neighborhoods and have carried, and a few times I've had my gun locked up in the truck, but I find working with it on me to be uncomfortable. I also tend to end up in New Jersey a lot for work, so I can't carry unless I'm sure I'll stay local or at least in PA.
I do electrical work and have to stretch upwards while on ladders a lot, which tends to make my hip holster show and exposes my gun, which I'd rather not do. I'm not worried about anyone seeing it, I just don't want it to get damaged by the other tools I carry. Having a gun in a tool pouch or another pouch attached to your side seems like a bad idea to me. My pouch tends to move around and get banged a lot during the day, and I wouldn't want my guns taking the abuse my tools do.
I've considering picking up an ankle holster to carry a BUG, and would most likely use this at work. It seems like a more reasonable way to carry without it getting banged up, though I don't yet have experience with this.

Re: cc while working construction?
An ankle holster rests very comfortably and sturdily on top of a work boot.

Re: cc while working construction?
Sounds like a good oppurtunity for someone to develop a tool belt with a built in holster...
Although I guess with all the different kinds of tool belts and all the different guns out there combining the two without having hundreds of different designs might be difficult. Still could be a good idea..."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government" -- Thomas Jefferson, 1 Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
