The man who died when his car hit a pick-up during a Wednesday afternoon police chase was from the Butler area.

State Police and local officers were chasing 41-year-old Derek Lewis Salmon when he smacked into a pick-up truck on Burtner Road near Natrona Heights.

Officers had been following Salmon from a Harrison Township housing complex and say Salmon's car hit a Lower Burrell man's vehicle prior to crashing into the truck.

Salmon was wanted on several warrants, most drug-related.

The driver of the pick-up was treated at Allegheny Valley Hospital for a minor injury.

No officers got hurt.

Allegheny County Homicide detectives are investigating the incident.

Glad the innocent guy only had minor injuries..

good one more piece of crap scumbag off the street. i wish he would have hit a tree instead of the innocent other driver though...i'm glad the other guy wasnt hurt or only had minor injuries.
