    Default SIGH~~~

So, I was browsing the web and came across a blog called "The Art of Manliness." The author's most recent post is about home defense and the best gun for it. Albeit, some may disagree with how he's rated the different guns and what not, but what really had me feeling bad for the guy were the initial replies that he got from his readers.....

(he's got a pretty funny picture about gun safety)

Gotta love the discussion in the comments...
Just because 'perfect' is impossible does not mean we should settle for 'broken'.

What a bunch of pansies. Not much in the way of "manliness" in those comments.

i think this might have been posted before, either way the comments didn't seem to be from very "manly" men, more like start whining because they were afraid.

    WOW!

I thought about posting multitudes of links to examples of where guns and gunowners saved lives (while waiting on the mythical saviors - the police - to save the day) but realized it would be a waste of a good day.

About what I'd expect from the folks on the other side of the pond. Their culture has made them terrified of anything "dangerous." The government will protect them. Nobody tells them that in the UK a burglary is about 5x more likely to be in an occupied dwelling. Sadly, many of our neighbors -- and even other gun owners -- believe the same Brady/VPC "facts."

My favorite comment has to be:

"The best weapon for home defense is a phone. If bad guys try to get in, just call the cops and wait for them to take care of it"

The comments display an almost scary level of refusal to take ANY responsibility for their personal safety.
And don't think you're off the hook, voters, you're the ones who made this bed. Now you're the ones who are going to have to move over so a gay couple can sleep in it. Tomorrow you're all going to wake up in a brave new world, a world where the Constitution gets trampled by an army of terrorist clones, created in a stem-cell research lab run by homosexual doctors who sterilize their instruments over burning American flags. -- Stephen Colbert

They get this on every firearms-related article they post. To me, home defense is pushing the boundaries a bit, not because it's not useful information but because the site is kind of humorous and encourages a bit of bravado. All good fun, but you have to be careful about mixing that with topics like home defense.

I know what you are saying, but I think the readers need to be responsible for differentiating which posts are of a more serious nature (such as home defense) and which are more tongue-in-cheek.
