    Not unless it is a machinegun or a short barrelled rifle.

    The SKS is a semiautomatic rifle which in it's factory form is not subject to the NFA. If an SKS is modified to have a barrel less than 16 inches it is then considered a SBR or short barrelled rifle and is subject to the NFA. Some SKS rifles have threaded muzzles to which a sound supressor may be attached, but the supressor, not the rifle would be subject of the NFA.

    Admin note: I changed "SBS" to "SBR" to avoid confusion. -danp

    err... a SKS with a barrel less than 16" would never be a SBS, and always be a SBR.
    SBS = Short Barrel Shotgun
    SBR = Short Barrel Rifle

    gotta be picky, these are legal definitions here:-)

    um, this was from September of last year

    and semiautos can be class III weapons...such as a short barrel AR15, or short barrel shotgun, or a semiauto pistol with a front grip.

    remember, words mean things in a legal sense, just because its semiauto does not guarantee title 1 status.

    .
    So I guess if I put one of those Picatinny handles from an AR on the rail on my XD, that would make it Class 3?
